If you’re missing a single tooth, a dental implant is often the best choice.

How it works:

  1. A titanium implant is placed into the jawbone

  2. It is left to heal and integrate with your bone (around 10 - 12 weeks)

  • Most adults with good general and oral health can have implants. Sufficient jawbone is needed, but bone grafting can often make implants possible. Bone grafting involves using materials such as Calcium phosphate to replace any bone that has been lost. This is mostly done at the same time as implant placement. A consultation will confirm your suitability.

  • Most patients report minimal discomfort. Local anaesthetic is used during the procedure, and any soreness afterward generally lasts for 24 hours. It is usually manageable with standard pain relief.

    • Single or multiple implants: Healing usually takes 8–12 weeks before the crown or bridge is fitted.

    • Full-mouth implants: Can take several months, though same-day teeth may provide temporary teeth immediately after surgery.

  • With good oral hygiene and regular check-ups, implants can last a lifetime. Crowns and bridges may need replacement after 10–15 years depending on wear.
